Abstract
In this research, the parameters of the solvent extraction processes were investigated and optimized using thorium leach solutions from Chahghaz ore by D2EHPA. The effective parameters in the solvent extraction process were evaluated by the experimental design to increase thorium extraction and decrease iron extraction. Under the optimum conditions of pH 0.6, time = 2 minutes, 16% solvent, and an organic-to-aqueous phase ratio of 1 to 2, the values of thorium and iron recovery were 99.47% and 9.60%, respectively. In the optimization of the stripping process, 89.75% thorium and 0.6% iron were recovered in 3:34 minutes with an organic-to-aqueous phase ratio of 2 to 1 and a concentration of 3.9M sulfuric acid.
